All I know is that in EOed law is not as substantial than having it passed and voted on by senate and the house. If he EOs it now, the posibility of the next president to EO a reverse bill could happen, but if it's been voted on, it's harder to do something against it.

Hypothetically, Say Obama issues an executive order, would we be able to adjust our status under it say via marriage to a U.S citizen?

That depends on what the EO is about though.

Overstays are eligible.

There could be legit reasons as to why the President hasn't issued an Executive Order.One could look at the current issue of children currently crossing the border as a potential motive.One argument against Dream act has been how does one stop the future flow and currently we have even more potential Dreamers.These unaccompanied minors may not have accumulated the 5 years yet,but it could be a legit reason.

imagine if u where playing chicken with a retard, u obviously got safety standards that u wont pass and they know it, they're counting on it, theyll go all the way knowing u wont crash the car but they will if they have to just to prove a point cuz its not theirs anyway and then blame u for it for playing such a dangerous game

obama had the bad luck that the GOP set their goal 4 years ago, to simply not pass shit no matter how retarded that was and make him a 1 term president and make him look bad cuz theyre the biggest assholes in history without any limits, if u've ever competed against someone whos got nothing to lose, you know ur not gonna win for example a girl, if someone wants ur gf and has no limit on how much theyll spend, money time etc, to get her, u know there and then that ur screwed if she's the typical impressionable chick, just like the voters are

i dont think he's using it its that hes fucked either way cuz they really tied him down to do anything, that was their openly stated goal from 4 years back, if he hooks us up the GOP will cry amnesty if he doesnt do anything theyll say he lied, have u guys noticed no one cries amnesty at marco rubio? or atleast not as many mouths do? it makes it much easier to look good when u have the chance to look good and aint smeared at every step u take in either direction

This worries me if we lose more seats in the senate.... I think we'll be losing 3 seats in the senate and if the economy keeps tanking we may lose more seats in the house.... This sucks!!
Yes, they can veto but needs to be by a big margin.. Im not sure what the number is but i read it on wiki one time. Just search executive order on wikipedia.

Wait...what? Wouldn't it have been better for Obama politically to make the DA pass in 2010 so that he could use the momentum from the DA to spur the Latino vote plus the fact that he'll find a much more comprehensive solution in his second term? I'm fairly confident that the Latino base would be much more happier and fired up if the DA had passed which is what Obama wanted so he could push his agenda for CIR. It literally does not make sense to have it "secretly" fail so that it would work against him.

There would be much more political capital gained if the DA had passed, and there's no way Obama secretly plotted against its failure.

I don't see how Obama would benefit from the DA failing. If anything, I've noticed a lot of my Latino friends are now turned off by Obama and his failed promises. The DA would have made Obama a champion on immigration... Now he is just another politician with broken promises.

This.

In addition;

Executive Orders are not absolute.

They can be easily reversed. The president can also lose his position for it. Etc.

If he were ever to execute such an order, it’d be on his way out. Not during his 1st or mid-second term.
