yeah sort of... you get work permits for 2 years and it can be renewed indefinitely. provided you meet all the requirements set forth.

As far as those in deportation proceedings, it did come up during the DHS announcement, but the response still seemed pretty ambiguous and I would not like to say something and steer anyone in the wrong direction. But know that it was brought up and keep looking for updates on this.

The response that national organizations and local organizations are bringing forth is a cautious response for the time being. They know that Obama brought out Prosecutorial Discretion last year and it is a complete failure highlighted by the NIYA actions which focused on over 50 PD eligible youth that where getting deported, so they are waiting to see if those cases will be stopped and what is written as far as process within 90 days.

But... I like what I see and hear so far.

This was also brought up during the DHS announcement, if you are under the age of 16, this would apply once you turn 16, provided you have been here for more than 5 years and can prove it.

If you do not have your HS diploma, start getting that GED.

Apparently those already in proceedings will have their cases closely examined:

Quote:
For individuals who are in removal proceedings and have already been identified as meeting the eligibility criteria and have been offered an exercise of discretion as part of ICE’s ongoing case-by-case review, ICE will immediately begin to offer them deferred action for a period of two years, subject to renewal.

I was hoping for a military option, but I will give it my best and work my butt off to show I'm an asset to this country.

You are right.... In fact, they did mention that there will be a number to call for those that are currently in deportation proceedings and they will look at those cases closely. They did mention however, that in order to ensure they have the capacity they will ask that only people facing deportation within the next couple of weeks call the number. They did not mention the number on the call, but there should be more information on the DHS website.

So...same, actually. I'm interested in finding out whether it'd be possible to pressure DoD secretaries on this. Under 10 USC 504, the law that disqualifies noncitizens except LPRs from enlisting, the Secretaries can choose to enlist noncitizens who aren't LPRs in the public interest. Worth a shot, no?

Your I-94 should have a date stamped on it. If you came in without inspection, you had better had some way to show you came before 16.

On another note, this is, as quoted from MSNBC, as a "double dog dare" to Romney. There is no way that Romney can look good from responding, as we can see yet. If he opposes the Executive Order, he looks inhumane, etc etc. If he goes for the EO, he looks like a flip-flopper. If he goes to Rubio's bill to support, he looks like a flip flopper. Obama is a political genius.

Forward, Dreamers!!! We have earned this day and this day is ours!!
