So here's my question.... we will get work permits, BUT will we be able to travel out of the country? Would be nice to visit my home country and family.

If I receive deferred action through this process, will I be able to travel outside the United States?
USCIS is exploring this issue and will resolve it in the coming weeks as part of its implementation plan[quote]

They did not mention the number on the call, but there should be more information on the DHS website.
While this guidance takes effect immediately, USCIS and ICE expect to begin implementation of the application processes within sixty days. In the meantime, individuals seeking more information on the new policy should visit USCIS’s website (at www.uscis.gov), ICE’s website (at www.ice.gov), or DHS’s website (at www.dhs.gov). Beginning Monday, individuals can also call USCIS’ hotline at 1-800-375-5283 or ICE’s hotline at 1-888-351-4024 during business hours with questions or to request more information on the forthcoming process.

One warning, and a reason why national organizations are taking a cautious stance against the deferred action. It is still up to the discretion of the officer looking at the case, much like PD were at the discretion of ICE and BP agents looking at the cases to enforce it.

I think the fact that the election offices where occupied coupled with the more than 50 PD cases that where being highlighted where really threatening and hopefully that signifies that they will take things more seriously. I would hate to start seeing deportation of people who clearly are supposed to be covered under deferred action, that would look really bad for Obama, and I don't want anyone to be the first victim as a result.

But on the flip side, you do not apply for this by finding yourself in deportation proceedings, you may not be on deportation proceedings and apply for this, so... that provides some hope, maybe.... i hope.

Ohh you are right.... It is required for you to be present in the US 5 years prior to this announcement, and prove that you where present in the US 5 years prior to the announcement.
