Also, if you where charged with multiple misdemeanors in a single offense or action, lets say you are an activist and you where arrested for taking part in an action where they charged you with obstructing the peace, jaywalking, obstructing traffic, etc., etc., as part of that single action, they will only count it was one misdemeanor offense rather then count is offense towards the limit of three misdemeanors to qualify under what was announcement on Friday morning.

buckminsterfullerene: can you post the source, i been stopped and ticketed for driving without a license 3 times, just had bad luck with the checkpoints. I would like to see the source because i'm really worried

I've been caught driving without a license here in so cal. I went to court and am currently paying off the fine. My mind was in another state, but I could have sworn the judge said that as long as I pay, it would be reduced to an infraction. Have any of guys heard that? This is the only thing bugging me

Talk about lucky! At court, there were several driving without a license tickets. All before me, were Spanish speaking. Most of their fines were 500+, depending on speed etc. But the judge gave me a fine of 390. It was a bit weird that I got less than the non-english speakers...

It only counts if you were found guilty in a trial or pleaded guilty in your citation. That's what they mean when they say "convicted of"

Getting a DUI is not a mistake. Driving a vehicle under the influence of any drug is a conscious choice...even if it was made with an altered mindset, it was his choice to drink in the first place; the person could have taken a taxi, or taken the bus, or walked, or had a sober driver, etc...this is how the government will think about it.

Get a good lawyer and get him to help you write a good letter exposing your redeeming qualities that, hopefully, outweigh the fact that you made a foolish decision. The government will not show you any pity if you go to them saying you 'made a mistake' when you got behind the wheel fucked up.

I have zero tolerance towards anyone who has driven drunk and is searching for relief because they're also illegal

When you get behind the wheel you endanger everyone around you.
Dreamers strive to be the type of immigrants America would want. It's a no-brainer: do not drive drunk EVER

I saw an interview on a Spanish news program were a lawyer said a DUI is taken seriously by immigration officials, so talking to a lawyer first is a must. Do not take advice from these people, instead talk to a lawyer.
