Deferred action is like a quasi status that does come[AFAIK] with a Notice to Appear[removal proceedings],it basically is at the complete discretion of DHS to approve or deny and can be taken away at anytime.The EAD is based simply under Deferred action to allow the alien work authorization if there is an "economic necessity"!

I feel like many of yall are ignoring or have not realized that it is not a "work permit" per se. We will be allowed to work, but we will not accrue legal presence. So anything that a normal work permit allows such as leaving the country will not be the same with the EAD. Also the deferred action does not grant you complete immunity from being deported. It will only protect you from being detained for not being able to prove legal presence. For example if you are arrested for DUI and they find out you're undocumented after you have deferred action you can still be deported.

This is all how I interpreted what I read on the ICE and USCIS websites. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Some Naturalized US Citizens that have been convicted of crimes have beem stripped of their citizenship and deported. What does that mean for us? If you reread the new information that was released on Friday, you'll see that in terms of travel outside of the country, they're still working on those details so please wait before jumping to conclusions.

However, let's not forget that this opens the doors to many opportunities to attend college, take out loans/apply for scholarships, get driver's licenses, ID, air travel inside the US, etc. and most importantly, the fact that we cannot be deported.

I'm sure we were working some job we didn't want to do and driving without a license hoping that the cops didn't pull us over. It's not the DREAM Act, we knew that the DREAM Act was not going to become law this year. Some here might want to down play the significance of this. We get it, it's not permanent residency. But let's take it for what it is guys, if everything follows through. This is a big time break for us.
