Deferred action is like a quasi status that does come[AFAIK] with a Notice to Appear[removal proceedings],it basically is at the complete discretion of DHS to approve or deny and can be taken away at anytime. The EAD is based simply under Deferred action to allow the alien work authorization if there is an "economic necessity"!
Kudos to you for being even more informed than I. And you're not negative, but people just don't want advice they didn't ask for so i recommend just presenting the facts and cleaning up the misinformed ideas. Let them digest it as they choose. Also you're the one who told me our fee will not be waived for the EAD right? Because that's completely true. I'm thinking it will be the only financial set back of this process though. Maybe postage fees too? lol

No. We cannot join the military with only work authorization. This does not confer legal status, which is required for enlistment.

Even PERMANENT RESIDENTS CAN GET DEPORTED FOR DUI's. I know some cases of this.

It will only protect you from being detained for not being able to prove legal presence. For example if you are arrested for DUI and they find out you're undocumented after you have deferred action you can still be deported.

This is all how I interpreted what I read on the ICE and USCIS websites. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
Some Naturalized US Citizens that have been convicted of crimes have beem stripped of their citizenship and deported. What does that mean for us? It means that we all need to be on our best behavior and STAY OUT OF TROUBLE! Make Pres. Obama proud of the bold choice that he made on Friday. All this DUI NONSENSE should never come up or be associated with any of us henceforth.

If you reread the new information that was released on Friday, you'll see that in terms of travel outside of the country, they're still working on those details so please wait before jumping to conclusions.

Be grateful, do your research and most importantly stay out of trouble!

True statement. If any dreamer screws up, it casts a dark light on all other dreamers. As I'm coming back in August I don't want dreamers to go from being seen as future superstars of American society to yet again the black sheep.

However, let's not forget that this opens the doors to many opportunities to attend college, take out loans/apply for scholarships, get driver's licenses, ID, air travel inside the US, etc. and most importantly, the fact that we cannot be deported.
You can't take loans. You can attend college but can't take out loans. Also no FAFSA.

Very true, we have to make the country proud of us, placing ourselves in awkward situations due to poor judgement is really not an option, neither is bad behavior.

wow that sucks for me, because thats what I wanted to do since I was a kid...I always wanted to join the Air Force or the Marines, I even got people from the Air Force pushing me to join till they find out I was illegal, even tho when I was like 20ish I found out you can join the Military even if you are Illegal but you gotta know the right people . I guess in January I be leaving to Europe or Australia(I got pre approved for a Work Visa(my sister has Australian and Mexican Citizenship and help me ) so if nothing changes till January for my "dream" then that be it for me. Good luck to everyone else tho

It's not the DREAM Act, we knew that the DREAM Act was not going to become law this year. Some here might want to down play the significance of this. We get it, it's not permanent residency. But let's take it for what it is guys, if everything follows through. This is a big time break for us.
I completely agree it is a big time break for us. I'm not down playing it at all. This post is for those that don't understand that we don't get legal status. I have personally seen many people on this forum believing that it is. No need to bash me for trying to inform them.
