If we manage to obtain a SSN will it stay the same when we legalize?

So, lets say I'm able to apply for a work permit and I'm granted an SSN. If I get married and I'm able to get my green card, will the SSN number be the same number?

I'm asking because the school I'm going to wants to know my SSN but I've left it blank for now and I'm not sure if I should bother adding my first one if I plan on getting married later next year.

Yes it'll stay the same, most likely.

If you have an ITIN with credit history, after we get a SSN, you need to contact all the card companies/ credit bureaus with the change in SSN to update your credit history. They just transfer it over.

Your SSN does not change once you get it.

What about those that say "not valid for...", do you get those replaced?

You still need a valid work authorization [permit] if you are not a permanent resident, I think. And you need to renew the authorization every two years.

Yes, once you get a work permit or green card, you just go to the social security office in your city, stand in line with old ladies who smell of cabbage and change it. They're pretty nice too.

Meaning... they'll issue you a new card that no longer says that?
