So I'm getting together the necessary documents and I noticed that on my high school transcript, they got my name wrong. My first name has two parts S__ Y__, but they placed the second part (Y___) as my middle name. Last name is fine. I called the school and they said they can't fix it now because I graduated four years ago. Do you think this could be a problem? The transcript has my correct birth date and the same address as the one I'm living at now. I'm also planning on sending my college transcript, which has my proper name.

Thanks.

In cases where a school document can't be corrected like that, some people here have suggested getting something signed by school personnel, acknowledging the mistake and the correct version of whatever's wrong, preferably on school letterhead.

I had exact same problem as you do, just go to your high school with your diploma, birth certificat and your current transcript. They will not be able to change your name on your transcript since all these records get sealed after graduation and its unchangable, so ask them to write you latter expalining your name and tell them to put official seal or highschool trade mark on it.

Its their job to do it and if they hesitate doing that, just tell them you have called board of education and they told you that they can not change your name since system is sealed and they said school supose to write you a latter explaing error on your transcript. Also ask them to get you 2 copy so you can send one with your application and keep one for your future records.

I was doing the same trying to get all of my school information. So I call the school to get my high school transcript and, they said they would call back since the person in-charge was not there, so today they call me an tell me that they have my transcript An that Im missing 10 credits to graduate.I don't know what to do now I walked with my class 10 years ago I am really confused because I have my diploma.Does any one know what I should do.

^ Karo,

Ask them how you were able to get the diploma in the first place, then ask them to double check if you really are 10 credits short. You have the diploma, so technically you did graduate.

If you ARE short on credits, contact a lawyer, and maybe they'll be able to help you with the details.
