I came across this piece from The Huffington Post, just now. Does anybody know any more information about this? Is it exclusive to California DREAMers?

It seems right now they're only offering a few selected classes as a pilot program.

From their FAQ:
Quote:
What classes are offered by National Dream University?

The following is a list of the courses that National Dream University will offer throughout 2013:

Spring:
Living Labor History
Immigrant Rights, Labor and Higher Education

Summer:
Introduction to Research Methods in Labor
Nonviolence and Social Movements

Fall:
Students and Pro-Democratic Movements
Race, Gender, Sexuality, Class and U.S. Labor
Pretty much from what I gather, this works out best if you're already enrolled in a college, and want to get credit for taking some more "exotic" classes not usually available to you otherwise.

The whole premise of the online university is targeted more to immigration/labor rights activists anywhere in the country -- you're required to attend opening and closing gatherings in Los Angeles and Maryland, and you need to pay for your transportation.

You're still responsible for paying the reduced tuition.

Again, from what I see, it's more of a pilot program right now.

Yea i was looking into that earlier and it seems like the classes they offer are somewhat just electives.

Thanks, so much, for the extra info. It does seem like just electives, at the moment. Hopefully it continues to grow, I like the idea.

I'd never sign up for this. One (of the many) reasons is that it's going to have a hard time being reputable and/or accredited.

Times like these I wish I went to UCLA... you have professors who are actively concerned and supportive of the welfare of dreamers. UCI is just not dreamer friendly, but maybe its also because its in orange county aka bible belt of southern california.
