If Senator Durbin and Representative Gutierrez don't have a problem with it, I don't see the reason to complain. A lot of us immigrants this generation are of hispanic origin we're trying to build a community and be accepted into American society, anyone who meets all of the other requirements and is only missing the GED still deserve this chance.

We don't get to make the final judgement on whether we stay or go turning against our own will not end well.

I'm not "Hatin'" on them. They just don't fit the reasoning behind the Dream Act. We didn't have a choice in having the legal status that we have now, but High School in the US can't be denied to anybody. This was the one freebie that we all had and the one thing we had a choice in.

Nobody is saying you had to be a 4.0 student and accepted into Harvard (back in my day 4.0 was the most you could get); but considering how easy it is to graduate in the US where so many people who graduate can't even read or write above a 5th grade level, it's just something that I see as inexcusable.

Everybody deserves a second chance? Fine. That's what the GED is for, but if someone still didn't have the desire to get one until they saw this ruling then that would be an indicator that their life will not a change a whole lot with or without a work permit. They'd be working in the kitchen regardless or picking up trash and as my uncle used to tell me "You want to be a garbage man, be a garbage man in your own country".

The Dream Act is a 2 part contract. You were brought here as a child without you having a real say in AND you have a bright future (hence the country gets a return on its investment) that would otherwise be wasted. Someone who not only didn't graduate from High School but also didn't want to get a GED doesn't fit that.

Nobody is hating. This is about a special category of undocumented immigrants. It's not a comprehensive bill that would have a plan for everybody. And again, if I can be selfish, there is something unfair about those 31 and above who have a college degree and can pay taxes right away and contribute getting snubbed while someone who didn't even take remedial classes in High School to graduate getting a shiny new work permit. If anybody is getting hate it's us by being told "you're too old now...go away"

IamAman, man up and quit posting absurd comments please. I read your essay with a "are you serious?" look on my face. Everyone deserves a chance as long as they're of good moral character and stayed out of trouble. So you're saying they're not worthy of being included under this policy because they are probably not smart enough to get a college degree and have a 'bright future'?. Excuse me Einstein, but according to your logic then CIR will never occur because i assure you most of EWI's and overstayers that would be covered under CIR will not go on to get a U.S. college degree. I guess you're ok with that. I'm tired of the kind of people that have the " I got mine, eff the rest of you" kind of mentality.

Incredible. Undocumented hating on undocumented, what can we expect from those white rednecks then?

Peace.

Like I said, IamAman, get off your high horse. I can't believe a fellow dreamer would spew these words

Leave IamAman alone. He is entitled to his opinion. Don't make yourself sounds so righteous, calling another dreamer "incredible" for disliking a deviant? Don't tell me you have NEVER resented your parents? That is also a type of "Undocumented hating on undocumented". What you have been saying against him is also "Undocumented hating on undocumented". Nobody is saint. And what he meant was that some people live their lives without a purpose and contribution to society.

Therefore, I agree with your statement that "Everyone deserves a chance as long as they're of good moral character and stayed out of trouble." As long as they are good people, I'm fine with them fighting for us and given a chance to change for better.

I do NOT resent my parents. That's just as absurd as IamaMan's comment. My parents risked their lives to bring me here to have a better future, they never intended wrong for me. When i turned 18 (or whenever i reached adult maturity) I made the choice to stay here. YOU made the choice to stay here. Nobody forced you to stay and don't come to me and give me the "this is the only country I ever knew" excuse because our parents just went trough that experience of going to a foreign and unknown place looking for a better future. We are dreamers and we can succeed anywhere in the world but let's be honest, this is the greatest country in the world, we love it and hang on to it tight.

On another note, please don't make yourself a martyr or a victim and resent your parents because of the unfortunate situations we find ourselves in. Yes, it's unpleasant and sad but thousands of people around the world wish they lived the quality of life we have even as undocumented immigrants.

Since it doesn't involve me or my family I could care less. Guys, remember that either way we're still gonna be under supervision so whoever messes up that's it, they'll deny your renewal after the 2 years are up!

Just read half of your 1st paragraph, cuz well the rest wasn't worth reading. What people seem to forget is that this is not Dream Act; this is a form of deferred action akin to what the Morton Memo was proposing (and in it, not only students were taking advantage) so quit calling it Dream Act, you people are sounding like ALIPACers
