Yeah, I was just thinking that. I already have a matricula ID; I just need to get my birth certificate translated and notarized. I need to check which is cheaper and less time consuming. Biometrics isn't for a while.

The Mexican consulate in Houston supposedly dedicated space in the second floor just for students that qualify for deferred action. I'm sure they are really packed right now though.
You can watch the news segment that talked about it here.

I went to the DC one yesterday to renovate, you will need to make an appointment if you don't mind waiting, otherwise even if you show up at 6 am, they will put you AFTER the people who have appointments. Even so, they might even try to tell you to go home because they can't fulfill so many requests, however, what you should do is talk to people who are in charge of giving information on DACA, in DC it's Mariana. They will give you a form and also will hopefully add you on the list so that you can get your passport. I renovated both my passport and my matricular card, I was there from 6 AM until 2 PM, I really hated the process because some of the people at the consulate treat you like if you don't deserve the documents.

I've been reading through some posts and I keep seeing that people are applying for passports?? Is that something that we need to have or just extra stuff people want to include so they make sure they cover everything?

I have my matricula, although it expired last month, and I also have my passport from when I was 2 years old and first came in to the country (along with tons of other documents throughout the years of course...) Is that what you mean by government ID card?

I have a Matricula which expired last year. I shouldn't risk it and still obtain my passport. I'm in Los Angeles, which according to this thread, is slightly easier than the others? I do remember showing up really early for the Matricula, but I think we should go with appointments anyway if they're not really long from now like Oct.
