Also to prove my identity, i'm sending my passport, visa, school id card, and debit card with photo id. Should i be good or do I also have to send my mexican birth certificate?
If you have a an expired passport you need to send a copy of your birth certificate and have it translated and notarized from understanding.

Does anybody know if being outside the U.S. for 5 weeks during summertime in 2009 will be an issue when I send my application? I was only gone for this period of time, and it was to visit family that I had not seen in years. What is considered "brief"? Please help!!! Thanks in advance!

You should have a different money order for each form, just in case one gets denied.

Hi guys,

This has been an incredibly helpful thread. Thank you to everyone that has contributed. I do have a few quick questions, though. I read several pages of the thread and could not find a consensus on the following:

1) Form I-821D, Page 2, Question 9 - what exactly are they asking for by "country of residence?" Is it simply asking where we currently reside (USA)? Or, is it talking about the country where you maintain permanent residency?

2) Form I-765, Question 15 - what do you put for "current immigration status" if we are not under removal proceedings by ICE? The instructions brochure only indicates what should be written for those in removal proceedings, but not everyone else. Do we put "Unlawful Status?" Do you think it would be acceptable to put "Out of Status: Deferred Action Applicant?"

And this is not as big an issue, but on Page 6 in the I-821D form, what do you put for the item # in 2.a if you are providing additional addresses? I put Pg # 3, Part 2, but the item # is confusing and making me paranoid!

Fill them out online through Adobe. Or you can't print them out and neatly write everything. It will all go together with your money order.

Why does it say that you can send in a birth certificate with photo id? im assuming I have to translate my birth certificate like i was told then attach 1 photo to it? or will the 2 required photos be sufficient?

One quick question...How exact does the Residence part of i821d need to be? I dont know the exact dates of each house we lived in. Please help! Also, what is considered "brief" in the U.S. departures part? I was away for 5 weeks visiting family in 2009 and I am unsure of how this might affect my application. Help please, im desperate!
