For those wanting to consult with Gurfinkel especially the Filipinos, I advise you not to unless you have deep pockets. He charges $300 just for the consultation (which the attorney will just restate what deferred action is), the filing fee is $3800 alone, and ofcourse there are fees for the application. Unfortunately my mom is stubborn and will not change her mind therefore she is paying this steep price. I advise you to just find someone that will handle your case for a way cheaper price!

Wow, that is way too much. I'm not hiring a lawyer because it costs $700.00 and you're paying $3800.00 WOW

I'd stay away from lawyers unless you need to fight a case or something similar like that. Filling up Immigration forms doesn't require you to hire a lawyer.

This is just me, but why do you need a lawyer to fill our your name and stuff you know, because he can point to it on the form. C'mon, read the instructions. There are hundreds if not thousands of resources to fill out the form.
If you're a criminal then that's another issue.

Good Luck.

I really think all lawyers have the same knowledge when it comes to this... However, there are some that actors/actresses use and that really does make their fees more expensive.

Wow. If I were you, I'd pile up a ton of sources (forums/lawyers/senators) saying that the form is easy and can be done by yourself as long as you don't have any complications. Go for the "don't you trust me" and "with that money, I could buy or save for ____, so just give it to me, besides, with a lawyer it might take longer for me to get my EAD". SOMEthing, lol. My parents gave me the same "you need a lawyer" bit and I did this, so now I'm $1k richer. :P
