so i got a lawyer and the lawyer is charging me $800 for his services.
IS THAT A REASONABLE PRICE OR IS HE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF ME??

how many pieces of evidence are you guys sending for each year??
i've been in the U.S. for more than 10 years, so the lawyer told me to add no more than three pieces of evidence for each year!

Is my lawyer doing the right thing? What did your lawyer tell you??

If your case is not much complicated and have enough evidences, you don't need to hire one. Most of dreamers here are "do-it-yourself" people.

I can't speak for the entire question there because I did not use a lawyer. But based on what I've read some people saying here, they will pay no more than $1000 for a lawyers service. So I suppose your price isn't that bad. Now hopefully someone else can tell you what their lawyers are doing :P. Since I did it all by myself, I gathered as much evidence as I could and opted for more rather than less but I suppose three pieces of evidence for each year should be okay? perhaps beginning middle and end of each year, sounds alright. ;O

Best advice is to look around, and compare prices and credentials. Better yet, ask for a recommendation from people you know.

hey cheyoo,

yes thats exactly what i was thinking. selecting something from the beginning middle and end of each year! Thank you!

Do you think i should send proof of my credit cards balances/debit card balances? do you think it'll hurt my chances of a work permit?

Is that $800 including the application fees? I've seen people on DAP charged anything from $500-2500. It's really up to you. If you have an easy case, then I would look into doing it yourself. Even if you do have a lawyer, go in there well-informed about the forms and requirements. This way you can make sure your lawyer is doing everything correctly.

actually $800 is like the best price i have heard. your lawyer will eat $335 and you have to gather all the evidence, you pay for the passport photos and shipping. you will do all the work we self applicants did plus more since you have to drive to his office and patiently wait there. really all you are paying for is..... well i don't know maybe his ink to print the form out and time. if your record is clean, you have never even touched a cop car then you could have done it without forking over $800

hithere,

no, $800 just for immigration services plus the $465 fee!
Im concerned about my lawyer because he just doesnt seem to be taking my case very seriously, he just says "yea sure" to whatever question i ask!
