Oh. But still, shop around, nonetheless!

Here's what I see as ideal working with a lawyer for DACA: you do all the legwork -- get your documents together, fill out your applications, and your lawyer is there as a guide, to point out any flaws, and to give you suggestions on how to improve your packet.

Paying more than $300 for that service is excessive, as you'll probably spend 1-2 hours, at most with him.

Those paying more than $1000, I said before I hope your lawyer is personally wiping your ass for that amount. And don't get me started on the scam artists trying to charge people $2500.

If your lawyer is acting like that, then I seriously suggest you start looking for another lawyer. You should not be paying $800 for someone not to take your case seriously. Take your money elsewhere.

DAMN, now that's not that good of a price anymore. Like everyone else's saying. If your case is quite simple and you have never had any encounter with ICE or cops or anything whatsoever then I think you are better off either doing it on your own OR really start reading over this forum and learning as much as you can about the way everyone else is doing it so that you are well informed. I was going to use a lawyer at first, and he was going to charge me $785 with application fees included in that price but as soon as he started acting careless about the questions I had and started writing on some of my evidence with red ink I got pissed and decided to do it on my own because I knew I would do a better job assembling my packet by myself as I'm a perfectionist LOL. Plus like many have said, I'm not sure I'd be able to trust someone else with such an important thing, it's our lives in their hands and they make mistakes just like we all do. Not to mentioned that depending on their workload they start to act careless about people's applications and do a shitty job.

I personally say get a new lawyer or do it yourself. You at this point seem to know more than he does IMO.

not really, it will depend on your retainer aggrement to get a refund but you are doomed with him if you already paid.

Well if you end up "doomed with him" then don't be afraid to get involved! You're paying him so he has to listen to you, and if you don't like the way he's doing something, SPEAK UP and tell him how you'd prefer it done. Lastly, read and re-read his work and be attentive to details. If I were you I'd ask him to contact me whenever he was done assembling my packet and ready to mail and I'd come over just to review it one last time and make sure I like the way he put everything together and the cover letter and everything else. Anyway, not saying you have to be this anal but I would LOL. >.>''
