Why would the USCIS schedule appointment dates if they intended it to be a free for all/ anything goes situation.

At the end of the day, do what you want to do, it's just sound advice to follow the rules and system in place, that's all.
Yup, my parents and sibling did this too, waited for their appointment for I485 didn't walk in. Yeah I dunno I'm a big chicken and I prefer to follow the rules

UHhh OP can you tell us what happened AFTER they scanned your bar code and called you in after everyone else was scheduled????

A step by step would be nice (ie took photo, how they took prints etc...)

I skimmed through all the pages so if i overlooked it please redirect me. Thanks.

Well I see some benefits from doing this... now the OP's date would be free which means a Dreamer can take it over.

You arrive.. You hand out your notice letter and ID...

They give you a form to fill out... with your personal info and to input receipt numbers etc.

You turn it in and they give you a number...

They call your number... They scan your notice and all your personal info appears on their computers... from name, country of birth, program name... etc... They double check everything to see its good to go...
Then they take your fingerprints first.... They you have to do your signature... and finally they take the photo...

And thats it... You get your notice back with a stamp on it saying you have done your biometrics... and you are good to go... the process once your number gets called does not last more than 15 minutes...

Thanks Ottoringo for sharing your experience. I don't understand why everyone is giving you a hard time. You had a valid reason and researched your options. I know ASC near my place allows walk-ins. If my schedule conflicts with exams etc, I will look at this as an option.

Make sure you have a good enough excuse if you do decide to try to walk-in....

We will see if this speeds up the process... Now all I can do is wait...

Can you describe how your biometric appointment went? general questions they ask, info you provided, pictures, docs, etc...

Lol random question...

Are you allowed to smile for the Biometrics picture? lol. Or do they want a serious face?

Oh and most importantly, do they tell you to say CHEEEEEEEEESE or just rudely tell you to stand there and BAM! ? :P jk XD
