income is reported Jan- Dec, so if we get our EADs on dec or jan, even by april, you dont have to file taxes until next year. If you been getting paid cash, dont worry bout it unless ur employer reports it to irs.

So if I understand you correctly, I won't have to file in 2013 since I didn't work a full year?
That seems a bit strange though, I figured Uncle Sam would want your money regardless of how little you work

theres also a number (ask tax person) were if you make less than xxx u don't have to file taxes as its very little. Example for 2o12 taxes you would file em by april 2013, and file what u made jan 2012-dec 2012, for 2013 taxes you would file em by april 2014, and file what u made in jan 2013-dec 2013,

That's right, you would be required to report your income in 2013. As for past tax years, if your employer did not report your income to the IRS you would be fine. I know a little bit about this because I help out during tax season in an income tax office so I am familiar with CA tax laws.

I have never filed taxes so hopefully one of the more "tax-informed" members will chime in when the time comes.

If you work this year 2012 then you can file next year 2013. Their is a minimum you have to make to file for taxes depending what group you fall into. Some people even though they don't make the minimum still are able to file taxes because they can get money back because of certain deductions they may qualify for.
