So I was looking at the website and the lawful presence part, it lists the work permit but with categories..... so idk what that means for dreamers in Texas.... if anyone knows what I'm talking about please feel free to put their 2 cents in. I don't want to panic but I'm worried now.

The Employment Authorization Card is enough. It just needs to not be expired and have our photo and verifiable information on it.

Go to this link http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/DriverL...StatusDLID.htm , at the end of the list of documents where it says:

All others who are NOT a citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee must present:

Valid documentation issued by the U.S. Dept. of Justice, U.S. Dept. of State, U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security, or U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, that shows LAWFUL TEMPORARY ADMISSION to the U.S. A list of acceptable documents can be found in the Temporary Visitor Issuance Guide (PDF).
Now click on PDF file,

http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/DriverL...tatusChart.pdf

and on page 4 of PDF file, at the bottom says:
Applicant with Employment Authorization Document (EAD) with all other categories

The "Yes" under the "Limited Term DL/ID" field means that the DL will have the same expiration date as your EAD.

And remember to get your SSN card first, in Texas, No SSN no DL.

I hope this help...

(c)(33) is the code to apply for the EAD, the category on the actual I-766 will be a different number.

I miss the good old days when all you needed was proof of who you were and a SSN in Texas...and that was considered strict by other states' standard.

Right and then you could renew for 6 years I believe online next time. That law changed in the summer of 2007 right? Or was it earlier?

So right now, the SSN and proof that you live there is the only thing you need for New Mexico. Washington state and Utah right?

Well, I think they made it tough to get the DL the first time before that...right around the time that Real ID was being spoken of, like even a passport with a valid entry stamp wasn't enough anymore, but you could still renew your licenses until 2009. At that point it became DPS policy to ask for proof, but a lot of people with student visas etc. were denied so a judge told them to stop it but it was appealed by the state...mostly because it was argued that DPS can't just make a rule like that and it's up to the legislature.

Well, last July, the gentleman governor was getting ready to run for the Republican ticket and had to show how tough and mean he was to them eyelegals so he held and emergency session to make it a requirement.

Your other question has been answered 20 times already and doesn't need to be repeated.
