Hi everyone. I haven't sent in my packet yet because I am waiting for my birth certificate to arrive. Since I heard about Daca my feelings about it have gone from excitement, anxiety, fear, hope and back around again. I wanted to share with you guys my fears on the program and get you thoughts and fears as well. When I read the thread on the merely 40k people who have signed up it made me think it would be good to start this conversation.

1. With all the information that is being collected they will not only know how we have lived, what methods we have used to live here, and expose loopholes in their system that have allowed this.
2. With that they can use this information to strengthen laws so that if Daca is ever repealed we can never go under the radar again.
2. If Obama is reelected what will happen if the Dream act is not passed during his term and the next elections begin.
3. After giving all this information you can still be deported if you application is not approved or at any point after the 2 years.

I want to add that I myself have been here for 22 years and not being able to live the life I've wanted to. I just struggle with this program and although it gives me hope and a shot at normalcy something about it just keeps nagging in the back of my head. I just think its important for us to discuss our concerns so they can either be dispelled by some of you who are more knowledgeable give comfort that you're not the only one thinking it.

This reminding me of watching Democracy Now! this past week. They showed DREAMers at the DNC protesting, basically risking their lives and all they have to get a change going. it was very moving

on number 2. The only way that the DREAM act will get passed is if the democrats get the House and get a filibuster proof majority in the senate. In my opinion I don't think the democrats can get a filibuster proof majority these days. I guess the republicans could pass the DREAM act but they have to keep their bigoted base happy. =(
on your number 3. from what I understand, they won't deport you if they do not approve you for DACA they will only deport you if you are threat to national security.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this, I also feel the same and I wasn't going to do DACA actually..my grandparents persuaded me saying that even though this is a risky move, I need to take it to move forward.

Understand your fears. We all go through this before we apply. The more you wait, the more you get confused and fearful. But I tell you, once you have submiited your apllication and then get your your notice of receipt, you'll feel a lot better and fear would soon be replaced by excitement. Especially once you have received your biometrics appointment. You feel closer and closer to living a life of normalcy. Trust me, take that leap of faith and go! No guts no glory. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. This is a lot better than continuing to live in limbo.

Thanks for your replies.
@Wilz yea of all the things I'm afraid of the deportation isn't the biggest of all although it is a big deal. Its not being able to go back if not approved. For instance, if you're not approved and you try to use the same social security number or whatever ids you have to try to get a job. will they somehow block you, since they have all your information?

I'm not saying this will happen to me or even any of you but I was trying to analyze, maybe over analyze, the possibilities.

QUOVADIS2009 you're right of course it is better than nothing. I just wish I could win the dv lottery or something just so I can truly relax. I will send my packet in a few days though ,I would love to have an actual id ,work without fear and drive a car.

It's worrisome thinking that they have all these info on us now, but at the same time (hopefully if things keep getting better for us and there would be more advancements in later procurring citizenship) things would be easier and faster cause they already have us on file.

Also what countries other than Mexico and canada can people travel back and forth? This relates to the part of the application that asks for proof of being in the Us constantly since june 2007. To cut down of the amount of paper work sent and speed up the process shouldnt' they have put a stipulation excluding this part for countries where its not possible to leave the U.S and come back.

This is a good point especially is this is a set up for the dream act to make that process quicker if ever approved.

As long as you have a clean/straightforward record, no one will come after you, don't overthink things.

Virtually everything in life has its risks, you just have to take a chance to improve your life. Even if a person meets and marries the love of his/her life who happens to be a US Citizen, there are still risks there, it's still not a guaranteed Green Card, as people's feelings/emotions can change.

Nothing is ever easy, but when a rare opportunity that can affect your life in a positive way comes along, it's wise to be thankful, accept it, and not question it....
