Okay I just did my biometrics at the El Monte office in Socal. The people were pretty cool, I would have been in and out if it hadn't been for the two last names on my passport (im mexican). They had to do a name check, but other than that it was a breeze. Now I wait.

Notice date is 9/10/2012 and my appointment was for October 2nd so there you go.

My reason: No particular reason just need ASAP. And since I'm always working on stuff, (cars, etc.) I wanted to go before I got a big cut across my thumb.

What did the guard ask me? Nothing at all it was a breeze. Not a single question about anything except for the name check.

FANTASTIC! I had read someone here mention they didn't allow walk-ins but I suppose they were incorrect.

Congrats. I also did a walk in here. The security guard said "the date really doesn't matter" but I don't know if she really has the last word about that, it all depends on what the manager/officer says. Good Luck!

Hey just curious---what was the issue with your name? I wonder if some people were permitted to apply with only their paternal last name (without maternal last name).

I also did a walk-in at El Monte, the people there were very friendly. I got there at 3 PM, there were only 2 other people there to do biometrics.
