The reason why they give you a "Temporary Visitor" ID, is bc deferred action is not legal status the only way you can get the regular ID which is for 6 years and doesn't have the "Temporary Visitor" in BIG BOLD LETTERS is you have to have a Green card or also called "Permanent Resident" or have "Us Citizenship". so yes you will get a ID or DL that does look different from a regular ID the thing that kills the ID is the "Temporary Visitor" in BIG BOLD LETTERS. Again that is what my sister said and she works at the DPS in L.A. California.

Do you have a link to this, I have never seen, heard of anything of this sort.
I know that all other people who submit EAD's have an expiration date and for no reason should DMV assume that one process will prevail over another.
I doubt ACLU would have allowed this.
They give out PROVISIONAL ID/DL to Under 21 y/o. that I believe.

Limited Term Legal Presence All original and pending driver license or identification cards will expire on the expiration date of his/her birth date and legal presence document (BD/LP) issued by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Your BD/LP document must have an expiration date 30 or more days from your application date. The only thing different will be it will be limited term, not the regular 5 year license.
