If it got to that, I think you should just quit whether you did it or not. You're just an internet guy and I wasn't there so maybe you did and maybe you didn't.

They can definitely call the cops but I doubt it because then they'll admit they hired an illegal. Then again, they can just say they hired you as day labor and had no idea you didn't have papers and you could still get arrested. No records after all. I think legally they can still pay you $500 (around that amount) in cash without having to hire you or 1099ing you. They can just say "This guy came looking for work and we were nice and told him to just sweep up the back and we'd give him $100 but he stole our cash". The cop will probably take their side and no matter what happens in court, you'll be at risk of deportation. I don't think DACA covers theft.

To the OP, just go talk to your old boss and clear everything up, for all you know, they might be sure you did indeed steal that money, you could have been accused by someone else. Facing him and assuring him it was not you in a respectful manner will make him think twice about pressing charges. I do hope you were a good worker and left in good terms.

What does that have to do with telling the cops that he is being blackmailed and that his boss didn't pay him some days. When the hell did OP say that?
