Make sure an ask them when they would do the SAVE query, that will tell you when the SSN will be ready.

Yeah ask for one, if they don't give you one. it has a REF# relevant to your application.
Because you don't have a SSN that is the only number they have for your app.

Hey I received my EAD Saturday night! I'm going to the social security offices Monday morning, but can we go to the DMV with our receipt and get something done before we get our SSN?

Plates on my bike are expiring this month so I need to register the vehicle under my name and get the tags to be able to get around. Would suck if I got it taken away only a few days before I could LEGALLY register the vehicle lol

While the company would be linked to our SSN, it would have it's own separate EIN (and you could even set it up so it pays it's own taxes separate from yourself). It's not idea, but even a company that does E-Verify shouldn't then have an issue hiring you as a subcontractor given that they wouldn't be paying us with our expired SSN but paying a legal US corporation that pays its own taxes and what not. Paying yourself from the company is where the "wrong" step would then be so it kind of clears them as far as I understand. Not sure where that leaves us with the SSA though, since we would still need to file our own taxes but it seems like it would be just as legal/ilegal as using an ITIN right now.
This is actually a really good idea! Have you talked to a lawyer about this cause I might just do that. The thing is not a lot of companies are looking to hire other companies. I did a little bit of research and found that they do this mostly for Independent Sales Consultant/any other type of consultant, software/computer engineers and contracting jobs. They us the 1099 tax form as opposed to the w-4 everyone else gets. I'll try to find a lawyer that might be able to advise more on this

Oh and for people worrying about the driver's license renewal, if you renew online all they ask for is the social. My parents were able to renew their licenses even though they have been out of status for years. All they had to do was provide social online. My mom however went in person but there were no hassles they just verified social. I think she lucked out tho because a friend of mine tried to renew his license (he's in the same status as me now - overstay/out of status) and they asked for the legal presence document that he registered with. This is in CA by the way, idk if its the same everywhere else
