As we all know, alot of dreamers used only their paternal last name for DACA. There were no issues (big ones anyway) when they did biometrics. My question is for the ones that got approved but only used their paternal last name.... how did it go at the SSA? And I know it may be too early to ask, but that'd be awesome if those that go in the near future could share their experience ....

I used just my paternal last name on the DACA applications, but I wrote down my maternal last name when it asked what other names I used. When I went in for my biometrics I wrote both my paternal and maternal name on the first line and just my paternal last name when it asked the second time. My itin number has both my names on it, do you think that will have an effect on my SSN?

Trying to keep this thread afloat since I'm wondering about it too. The SSN applications ask for "Name to be shown on card" and right below it has "Name at birth" and "other names used" so it might be possible just to go with the Paternal last name for SSN.

Can anyone who has already gone to the SSA office confirm/deny this please?

I am also wondering about last names for married people because I helped a friend fill out her forms but we decided to use her name as appears on her birth certificate because she did not have any legal document showing a name change. She wanted to have her husband's last name, however I do not know if she can simply request it on the SSN application.

I put only my paternal. SSA has yet to complain.
