"9.B., 10.B. If you are applying for an original Social Security card for a child under age 18, you MUST
show the parents' Social Security numbers unless the parent was never assigned a Social Security
number. If the number is not known and you cannot obtain it, check the “unknown” box."

Basically:
If you're under 18 and your parents do have SSNs then yes.
If you're under 18 and your parents do not have SSNs then no.
If you're over 18 then no.

I have a question. I only have copies of my birth certificate because the Mexican consulate took my original. Do i need to show my birth certificate or a passport only will do?

They took the original? How is that? They have a copy machine in the room. All they ask is for the copies unless they ask to SEE the original to verify, but they never keep it. They should know better unless their circumstances that oughtta explain for itself.

Thats not right. they can only make copies. when i went to get my matricula and passport they made a copy. some lady accidently forgot to give a girl her original but once she told her all she did was make copy of it. never let anyone keep your original birth certificate.
