It is actually strongly suggested by attorneys to do a walk-in, the rescheduling process will delay the application process by possibly a month or more.

While there is not much proof that walk-ins will actually slow the process down.

While there is actually no proof that doing the walk-in will delay anyone.
Not according to a recent conversation a forum member recently posted on another thread (please see the link in my previous post). With the out of sync manner in which people are getting approved, it leads me to believe the sentiment that those that went in WEEKS ahead of their appointment dates are being processed faster than those that applied before them and waited for their appointments that were scheduled later than the walk-ins.

If the FBI finds a possible match they have to investigate it to make sure it is/isn't you. Once they confirm they send it over to them. After they receive your results they place your application "in line" for review. The reason some get their approvals earlier than others is because the FBI handled the prints much quicker. He said there are several factors that slow down the FBI like other applications, businesses and people requesting background checks, and other factors. I asked if walk-ins could cause a delay and he said yes. They said the reason that USCIS spreads out appointments is so that their offices and the FBI department that handles the background checks don't get overwhelmed with all these requests.

Vjose52 is commenting on delays with the FBI process, not the DACA application process, it is most likely that the delay is caused either by following up on other potential matches, but regardless, the whole process for the biometrics should not take more than a couple hours, this was according to either the USCIS, ICE or BP director during one of the conference calls when he was asked on the length of time someone would be detained pending a response from their biometrics if they where arrested and doing the DACA application through ICE. The concern was that it would be weeks, he re-assured that the process would take at most a matter of hours.

Ultimately, the process is more likely going to depend on how long a person takes to review the proof provided in the application and which center it was sent to than the biometrics.

Where-as requesting for another date will guaranteed delay the process by at least a month.

Do whatever you want to do, I personally do not care; it's just silly to do a walk-in because you feel like it, rather than because you have a valid reason. People that do walk-ins for valid reasons go closer to their appointment dates, not WEEKS even almost a month before as I've noticed on this site.

doubt anyone went a month before, it seems like most people get the appt. a couple of weeks after they receive the letter.

Besides, when I consulted with a couple attorneys they informed me that a walk-in should not be any trouble, they were actually surprised that there where centers not accepting walk-ins as under most circumstances they should be able to accommodate people within 90 days of their appt. date.

Part of Vjose52s post also addressed the walk-in issue as well. I know that people sometimes need to do walk-ins because of emergencies, that is different. A pattern that I've noticed on this site is people frivolously waltzing into the Service Centers for no apparent reason except for 'because I can,' huh?! Who does that? Appointments are there for a reason, but hey, you don't have to listen to me, do as you please.

And I have an expired Oregon ID Card can I take that to the Appointment.

Thank you for your help.
If you have a passport use it. An expired ID is no longer valid. I saw someone saying that their principal validated their school ID and they accepted it.
