Yes I got a SSN with no work authorization. Did you enter legally and just overstayed?
pretty much.

Came here in 1992 with mom and dad on tourist B2 Visa. We stayed at my Uncle's house, but it seems he didn't help us much with our legal status. He only cared about money and disrespecting those who didn't listen to him, he was a pretty terrible person. He even made my Dad work under his Social Security so that all the money would come to him(My Dad still cusses him to this day)

Mom and Dad had to find out by themselves on how to make a Social Security Card(it was really easy in the 90's apparently). I think they could have made one for me as well, but they were knew to America, they didn't know that it would be so valuable.

That's why I'm generally so uptight in these matters. US Citizens don't realize how good they have it, they just seem to take everything for granted.

I see. You won't have that problem anymore. BOA is good so is Wells Fargo. I don't know if you want to go back to Chase...

I totally recommend cap one if there is one in your state. I have couple different saving accounts with cap one, and I transfer my money depending on which savings has the best rate at that time. Also, one of my savings is a rewards savings so I get points on top of interest. I got my first credit card through cap one, and I milk all the points and interest I can get from the bank. I have savings in other banks too but they really aren't worth it with their measly interest rate.

But that's my experience with savings accounts. If it's to buy a house, I believe how much you have in the account doesn't matter as long as you have an account with the bank. Also, they look at credit scores the most so getting a credit card (if you already haven't) should be the first thing you should do. They weigh heavily on how long you had a credit card.

That's an average rate of interest capital one offers do u know? And how if that compared to other banks?.. I'm not very familiar with banks and their interest rates on saving accounts..

I never got to open an account. No sufficient ID. I never got a state ID and my passport is in ICE's possession all these years. If I get an approval I'll open my first bank account
