Did you have to submit some kind of proof of why you need to travel?
The reason I'm asking, is becuase I have also consulted this with my lawyer and she assured me its not as complicated as they make it seem.. as long as I have proof of why I am traveling.(No, I am not looking to travel just for a vacation..)
Please let us know how your process goes.

If you came EWI it doesn't matter how old you are, you would trigger the bar.

So i could be 19 or 20, and have the AP and still be safe from 10 year bar? at least that's what i think and hope |

It's all about Unlawful Presence.
If you came with a VISA and you overstayed your I-94 date, you don't start to accrue Unlawful Presence until you are 18 years old. Once you accrue Unlawful Presence for more than 180 days but less than one year after turning 18, you will be barred from entering the U.S. for 3 years. If you overstayed for more than a year after turning 18, you will be barred from entering the U.S. for 10 years.
Someone who crossed the border illegally (EWI) would start to accrue Unlawful Presence the moment they step on U.S. land.
