So with the AB1289 law, Do we just have to show the dmv department our approval letter from deferred action to get a driver's license. Just curious

It's different in each state.

If you get approved for 821d and no work permit then you can get your license right away. If you qualify for both you will need both.

But there are ways you can get one while waiting for your ssn.

No I'm not going to tell you how look that shit up

He's probably just frustrated that the original poster started a new thread for something that has been previously discussed in multiple threads. All it takes is a simple search to find help with a lot of questions. Then, if someone is really unable to find an answer for something, then starting a new thread is acceptable.

So to get your Drivers license you are able to get it with a approved I-821D, with just a -821D you don't qualify for a SSN so you just have to check the i don't qualify for a social security number when you go to get your license.

Now the problem is that most people have been waiting till they get there EAD to go to the DMV. Once you have your EAD you apply to get your SSN so you will have to your social security first before you go to the DMV because they won't process your application without it.

So if you get your I-821D first you can just rush to the DMV and get your drivers license. I know some people are gonna say this is fraud but it really isn't. At the moment when he received his I-821d approval he doesn't qualify for a SSN.

No, you have to wait until you know if you qualify or not.
