SSA FIRST VISIT 09-28-2012 1:00pm

I went to the Social Security Administration on September 28th to apply for my original SSN around 1:00 pm located at Soto St. I came in the office and there was one security guard on the right. I went to the machine to get my ticket number B252, and waited about 10 minutes when they called my number. I approached the window and the representative ask for my ID, and he said he was going to put me on the system "only my name", and sat me back down. Then a random lady started talking to me for a while, I didn't notice the time but It probably was a good 20-25 minutes when they called my name and went to the window where they ask for all my documents I brought (Consular ID, Birth Certificate(untranslated), and EAD Card. I also had the SS-5 form filled out. I included all my information, and my parents name only without their SSN's. After the Q&A's, I was told I may bring all of my Tax Returns to SSA, to credit my account, and that after the 10 day wait has been reached. I needed to wait 3 additional days to request a print out of my information. And that was it.

SSA SECOND VISIT 10-5-2012 3:00pm
I went to SSA office located at Wilshire Blvd to request my print out. I came in to the office, where they had everybody go through a metal detector and there was 4 police officers doing the scanning. I got a ticket and sat down. There was around 30-40 people since it was a Friday it was really crowded, and it was almost closing time. I waited and waited...finally they called my number C131 I went to the window and I told the representative. "I have applied for an original ssn, and I am here to request for a print out". And i gave her my SSN receipt paper, EAD Card, Consular ID Card. She asked me for my mothers maiden name, and fathers name, and 2 min later. She printed my information and stamp the document that has my ssn on it. I asked her when should I be expecting my card by mail, she stated it should arrive within a week. And today I received another letter from SSA which states: "This is a receipt to show that you applied for a Social Security card on Sept 28th 2012. You should have your card in about 2 weeks..."

Man! You already have your print out?! I've been waiting and waiting for the last few weeks to get mine. Which is strange, since I received my approval 10 days before yours and my EAD card arrived more than ten days before yours, which means I applied for an original SSN well before you did. :/ Hopefully my application will no longer be pending by the start of this coming week.

P.S- I'm sure u probaby didn't get ur DL in the mail yet.. Does ur temporary license they gave u show the exp date?

My SSN card doesn't have an expiration date but I did notice a date in the bottom with the date 10/01/12 which was the date that I got approved for the SSN from DHS.

My temporary license has an exp date of 12/01/12.

Oh okay yeah that's just the exp date for the temporary DL.. I was asking to see if ALL STATES are giving only 2 years DL to us dreamers.. But congrats again and keep us posted

Im wondering about that also because when I went to the dmv to renew my license, I only showed my expired DL and the DL application with my SSN on it so I don't know how long the license will be valid for.I will update everyone on the exp date of my DL once i get it. Hopefully, i get it by next week.
