I was born in Queretaro, Mexico. Brought forth when I was only 8 years old to a country that I believed was my home. I was wrong. At the early age of 13 is when things finally clicked on my head. I was a nobody. Although academically strong, my grades would not matter for I would never be able to obtain a driver's licence. Depression after that soon hit me and it got to the point where I began having suicidal thoughts. I felt alone in this great country. I went through high school not knowing what would happen to me tomorrow. All my life I had wanted to go to a four year university but I was afraid that money would be an issue. Afraid. Alone. I was lost in my own grief. Fortunately through my parents sacrifice I was able to go to school and I'm currently enrolled in Cal State San Marcos. Now I just live in fear. I applied for DACA but money is a big issue for me right now. My mom has to give me money every now and then for gas since I commute on a daily basis. Gas prices just keep going up and my landscaping job (5 hours a weekend) is becoming less and less to be able to pay for my gas. But although all this has happened to me, I do not lose hope for a brighter tomorrow. My life may not be great but at least I have a set of wonderful parents to thank. Without them i wouldn't be anything. I'm currently awaiting to hear from DACA, hoping that after I obtain it I will be able to obtain a driver's licence instead of driving illegally. I also hope and pray that God will bless me with a job because honestly I just want to work and earn my own money instead of taking it away from my poor mother.

Hello, I was also born in Queretaro (a wonderful city) and came to the US when I was 9. Me and you have a lot in common.

These things are just obstacles, some bigger than others but nonetheless obstacles. The only way to fail is if you quit bro. You're parents aren't only giving you money they are believing in you and that right there should be more than enough to keep you going forward for decades to come. They sacrificed their old lives for a better one for you. Don't ever forget that. Just keep pushing forward.

I'm with you man! It get's tough having to deal with is. Some people might even think we exaggerate but they really don't get how this affects us. It's not just about not being able to have a DL or paying higher tuition rates it's a lot more than that. Just keep moving forward our chance will come!

I believe that being undocumented has helped me grow to be a better person.

I can definitely feel you on that whole feeling like a nobody and the deep depression. Things will look better, man earlier this year I was thinking about moving back to Bahamas. I was thinking the dream act would never pass or some miraculous miracle to allow me to work and live her legally. I decided to pray and wait and DACA came outta no where.
