No in-state tuition with EAD? - Page 2

I hella thought maryland was passing all those laws?? Whoah! It doesnt necessary mean that ur whole college career will be over.. U can take up loan now since u hav your social security.. And u can actually work first and save up so u can go back to school... Or if u wnat move to california... =)

Didnt it get put on this years ballot?

Hey i'm from wisconsin and our evil governor, scott walker, took away in-state tuition for students like us. I thought my college career was over as well. Literally a week before last year's fall semester began I was told I had to pay out of state tuition..but I pushed and pushed at my university, spoke with the multicultural center, filed an appeal for in-state tuition. I ended up having to speak in front of 8 upper administrative members and the school lawyers and they still denied me, BUT! my story definitely stuck with some members listening. The dean of students told me to attend school and pay the in-state tuition and he was able to find some very generous people whom I haven't even gotten their names or met yet them ( i don't know even if its one person or multiple) but they are paying for my out of state portion. Where there's a will there's a way. If you attend a liberal school, definitely keep pushing and don't be afraid to speak out, if you really want to study you will.

No instate tuition sir. MD DA will go on vote Nov 4th and even if it passes you do not qualify for it. Must have graduated from a MD HS also must have payed taxes for the last 3-4 years. Is it going to pass? I doubt it.

Well now that I got my EAD approved, I started talking to my advisor about applying to a PhD Program. I think its very unclear whether we can. I mean ultimately the college is paying for your tuition while you work for them and finish your studies. So an EAD should be enough, I would assume. Any ideas, thoughts?

I would rather avoid taking out a loan, because who knows what will happen with our current economy.

If the Dream Act doesn't pass, then I guess I have to find a job and save money...

What? I live in Maryland (Howard County) and I'm paying in county tuition. I go to Howard Community College.

I attended HCC and was paying double as well as Towson.

How are you paying in-state tuition at HCC (I assume you meant in-state when you said in-country)?

EAD all by itself will not allow you to pay instate tuition. Deferred action might (I-821D approval notice being the document you'll use), however that depends on the state.

I looked over the Maryland residency requirements. Felt more confusing than the ending of inception, however there was no mention of those being granted deferred action being allowed to establish residency. You could try filing for consideration for residency, worst that will happen is that they will just reject it.
