Just got back from the SSA. They told me my number will be generated tonight and to come back tomorrow for a print out. Good Luck to everyone.

Yeah, I'm starting to believe it is a matter of luck. It's like a third of the people on here don't wait the 10 days and are approved instantly, a third of the people wait the 10 days and are approved instantly, and the other third (myself included) go in 'early' and have to wait forever for their SSN.

I don't know what to think, accept that at least I know I AM going to get the SSN.....Sooner or later.

it is LUCK....

You have to have LUCK, because you don't know if DHS updated SAVE by the time you go and apply.

If DHS updated SAVE the second you were approved for I765 we wouldn't have any issues, but they have up to 30 days to update it, with 1-10 days being the range, but in certain cases it does take more than 10 days+.

They try to get our hopes up by sending us this piece of plastic, when what we really need is our SSN. _-_

Received my printout just now after applying yesterday and officially have a SSN. Mind boggling how this number changes everything after so many years...

Wow, man congrats but it's just making me even more anxious. I'm already past the two week mark and tomorrow's the last postal day. *sigh*

Congratulations! I wish you many successes. I use to say this all the time. A government piece of plastic and a few numbers can change a persons life in so many ways.

So I went to the SSA office again today to try and get a print out and to check on my status and the rep informed me that my documents were verified during the time I applied and that I should receive my SSN in the mail soon. She refused to give me a print out though. She just gave me a letter to give to my employer saying it was processing and that they had to wait for it to arrive by mail.

Thank you. Have you tried calling in and checking to see if your EAD has been verified? Maybe try getting a printout?

Thank you, thank you. Right? Nine little numbers is all it takes to make your life.

You know, I always envisioned this day to be a life changing moment--and it most certainly is--but it honestly doesn't feel like anything has changed. I still feel illegal, believe it or not (technically I still am I suppose....). Thought I would be ecstatic and that this would be one of the happiest days of my life, but I don't feel it. The only thing I feel is relief that I don't have to wait for anything anymore... well maybe only the actual SSN card and my DL. It sucks to have such a muted response to such a great blessing. These are the sad consequences of spending a lifetime behind a wall of suppression; it doesn't quite sink in when that wall is taken down.
