SSN printouts valid at DMV?

For those planning on using their SSN printouts instead of waiting for the card to arrive in the mail, are the printouts valid at the DMV?

I understand it might be different from state to state. So if you have used a printout to obtain an ID/DL, do share your experience and from what state you are from.

I called NJ dmv to ask about this, they said YOU MUST PRESENT THE SSN CARD.

You cannot use printout in NJ.

CA verifies the number directly with SSA so they would care less about the printout, it only helps us, to find out the number.

I just got back from the DMV but I had already obtained my SSN card. I am from California and the clerk that attended me didn't need my SSN card just my EAD. You do have to have a SSN established for you because you have to write it down in your ID/DL application.

It depends on the State regulations,the only way to find out is to try.

i went to the dmv in KS to renew my dl and they only asked me for my expired license, my ead and proof of residensy, i told her do u need my ssn she said no its ok (i got a printout but i memorized my number in case they ask me for it). im thinking she didn't ask for my ssn cuz i already had a dl but i never put a ssn down for it so i dont know, but i think they dont need to see the actual card here as long as you know ur number

I went to dmv with printout today. They turned me down told me come back with the actual card (Illinois)

Calif0rnia is definitely okay with you just providing the numbers. They didn't even ask to see the card, and the very nice lady even suggested going to get the print out. Gotta love Cali.
