Here are the requirements to obtain a DL in IL
http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/pu...s/dsd_x173.pdf

pretty much you need your:

EAD (satisfies Group A & B)
I-797 letter for I-821D (deferred action approval letter) (satisfies Group D)
Social Security Award Letter (satisfies Group C & D)

and of course pass your written and road tests

note: SSN prinouts not accepted in IL, you will need your actual letter award containing the SSN card.

share your experiences everyone if you have attempted at applying for ID/DL

To take a driving exam, the vehicle you provide must:
• Be a properly licensed vehicle equipped for the driver’s license classification you are
seeking.
• Comply with Secretary of State vehicle condition standards.
• Be properly insured. Proof of insurance must be provided prior to the exam.
• Display valid front and rear Illinois license plates and a valid registration sticker. If
the vehicle is registered outside of Illinois, it must meet the registration requirements of the respective state.
• Be driven to the facility by a driver who has a valid driver’s license/permit

Nope, your I-797 letter for I-821D (deferred action approval letter) and Social Security Award Letter contain your address and were issued recently. Both of them satisfy Group D, which proof of address.

No permit or practice. just show up with your documents, take the written test, if you pass it, you take the road test (make sure someone brings you with an insured car for the road test). If you pass the road test, you get your DL.

Permits are just for the ones under 18 yrs old.

That's what I'm saying. I'm 24 and I haven't driven in 6 years, how can I get my practice?
