All righty NYC kiddies, I shall be making a legendary trip over to your neck of the woods from December 7-10 (working on getting an extra day off for the 6...let's see how that goes). I have some questions that I want to ask you all...
1) The consensus so far has been that LGA > JFK. Anyone care to dissent or elaborate on why this is so?
2) Airport-area hotels are at least $150+ dollars less, but the areas look atrocious. Specifically, there's a Holiday Inn Express (don't judge me, I'm trying to spend under $1000 for a 3-4 day trip) by LGA...apparently, it's about 5 minutes away from Grand Central Station which will take me to Manhattan via the #7 train...have any of you been in that general area? How safe would you say it is?
3) There's more variety over by Newark and the flights are slightly less expensive. Would it be too much of a hassle to travel from Newark to Manhattan and other attractions for 3-4 days? There's a Marriott over there that I'm eyeing that's super cheap but I'd rather pay more for location convenience.
4) In the event that I'm somehow convinced/win the lottery/go all YOLO that I decide to pay the ridiculous premium to stay in Manhattan, what are some hotels off the top of your heads that you would recommend?
5) Any attractions other than the obvious (Central Park, Empire State Building, 9/11 Memorial, 5th Ave, etc) that you guys would recommend?
Yes, I do know how to work the google on the internet machine, but I figured you guys would have some local experience. This is my first trip outside of FL, so any and all advice is welcome! Can also be through PM since I realize this is kind of off topic...Thanks a bunch!
