1) the consensus so far has been that lga > jfk. Anyone care to dissent or elaborate on why this is so?

2) airport-area hotels are at least $150+ dollars less, but the areas look atrocious. Specifically, there's a holiday inn express (don't judge me, i'm trying to spend under $1000 for a 3-4 day trip) by lga...apparently, it's about 5 minutes away from grand central station which will take me to manhattan via the #7 train...have any of you been in that general area? How safe would you say it is?

3) there's more variety over by newark and the flights are slightly less expensive. Would it be too much of a hassle to travel from newark to manhattan and other attractions for 3-4 days? There's a marriott over there that i'm eyeing that's super cheap but i'd rather pay more for location convenience.

4) in the event that i'm somehow convinced/win the lottery/go all yolo that i decide to pay the ridiculous premium to stay in manhattan, what are some hotels off the top of your heads that you would recommend?

5) any attractions other than the obvious (central park, empire state building, 9/11 memorial, 5th ave, etc) that you guys would recommend?

Yes, i do know how to work the google on the internet machine, but i figured you guys would have some local experience. This is my first trip outside of fl, so any and all advice is welcome! Can also be through pm since i realize this is kind of off topic...thanks a bunch!

1. Jfk way better
2. Five towns hotel 5 minutes away from jfk under 500
3. ???
4. The plaza hotel / marriott new york / the waldorf astoria
5. 5th ave / the casino over in queens / rockefeller center (christmas) ......cant think of more lol

6. Enjoy your trip over here!

Yay, finally someone who agrees with JFK being better lol! Everyone here was starting to freak me out about it. Thanks for the tip on the hotel, I'm gonna go check it out. I just found out via FB that an old colleague of mine works at the Waldorf so I'm trying to see if they can hook it up price-wise...of course, that's a miracle shot but we'll see lol! We need to meet up that weekend!

No lie, I want it to be as cold as possible when I get there lol. I've lived in FL my whole life, trying to experience something other than 70 degree weather in December...

I checked out the Trump's prices and lol'd. I'm used to four star Orlando hotels at $60/night, what is all this eff-ery in NYC! Would it be feasible to do all the big stuff in 3-4 days? I'm looking at the options and it's blowing my mind lol...I need to hire you guys as tour guides, otherwise I know I'm going to be lost and crying somewhere by the Hudson...

And yes! I am down for a meet! We might need court-approved supervision, given your shenanigans with Notapro but I think we can make it happen...

Sounds awesome! Thanks so much, I'll be PMing as soon as I crunch the numbers some more. Since it's my first trip to the City, I want to spend as much time as possible and make sure I see the things I have on my bucket list...but you make it sound easy to do from Newark

Thanks for the advice! Newark looks like a better option cost-wise, I was mostly stressing because of travel time to NYC and such. Good to know it's not too bad!

I charge in hugs and back rubs. Also yes I do believe supervision might be a good idea since im worries you'll attempt, unsuccessfully might I add, to touch my special place.

I'll negotiate with pizza and drinks. And I won't be touching your special place sir, for I am still a bro and that is very un-bro-like behavior. BTW, any thoughts on Third and Long? Some friends of mine hang out there on Sundays to watch the games and I'm mildly intrigued...I figured an alcoholic like yourself could enlighten me on whether it's worthy of a stop or not...
