Born in Cali, Colombia. EWI and been living in Flushing, NY since 1 year old. Now 28 :/ its been rough! But grateful my parents committed to leaving the violence in colombia at that time.

For asylum my parents would have had to show proof that my family were in immediate danger, come up with police reports of assaults and threats intended directly toward us, which we never had. Basically it was rough everywhere in colombia in '85 (Escobar years) so my parents decided to leave for a better future for me and my sister.
