when you all receive you EAD's at the mail, go to SSA and apply, it's then that the wait begin and it could be 5-14 days we don't know and you can't really control the time. just like we have been waiting here some get approve quick others not so quick. so lets chill it's all coming.

luckly i already have a social from forever ago and my mom said we had to wait 2 weeks so they can verify. they have to verify lots of people. now add all those thousans of peole plus new DACA people and some people maight be waiting for a while.

Went into the SSA in santa ana today. Received my EAD on the 20th and i took my EAD and expired passport from 2008. Even though the lady was hesitant at first because my birth certificate was in spanish (she is arab i think) she accepted my documents..asked me the two questions and said i should receive my card in 2 weeks. Whole visit took about 40 minutes since it was pretty busy. Ill wait for my SSN before i go get my DL.

Just because it happened quickly for you doesn't mean it did for everyone else. I'm still waiting for mine. The 10-day wait thing is real, check this out:

so Moizy is right, recently, since DACA seems to be in the system well, the applicants are being verified quicker than earlier.

uuh that's the procedure that they have to go through.... i never argued about the 10 day waiting period after applying, what i was on about was waiting 10 days before applying.. just made no sense.

they do hold them for 10 days... so what?

maybe you should read your information before you post it.

also... i never said it was going to be fast for others, i said it depends on the office that you go to.

man, you people need to read before you post.

You didn't read the link right. Try again. I too am talking about the wait BEFORE applying.

There is NO mandatory wait. They try to verify your info online with DHS within 10 days after you apply. If they cant verify it online they use snail mail so it could take weeks. Check out the FAQs on ssa.gov.

If there was a 10 day mandatory wait before applying, how do you explain me receiving my ssn on the 8th day of my EAD approval?

Okay turns out, the "10 day wait" means, 10 days after your EAD was issued, not 10 days after it was received in the mail.

Nope. Like I said. I had my number in hand on the 8th day of my approval. EAD was issued the 18th and I got a printout of my ssn on the 26th.

Yes, it's after your EAD was issued. I waited 8 days to apply for S.S and I got my S.S in the mail in about 5 calendar days.

The only 10 day wait is how long they have to wait for verification by DHS. They say it will take up to 10 days online or weeks if they have to physically send paperwork.
