It is in fact illegal to have two State ID's, but not illegal to have a Driver's License and a State ID. Please don't talk unless you know what you are talking about.

They're saying it's not allowed to have both dl and state ID. If Illinois or other states DMV says it's illegal or not allowed, they won't be issuing both ID's for residents. Please read what I wrote before telling me not to say anything.

It is completely legal in Illinois and this is an Illinois ID/State ID thread specifically. Double check your facts.

Got my license. Woot. State I'd expires in May 2018, license expires in May 2017.

Came back to say that I was pulled over in 2006 and caught with driving without DL. When I went into SoS to get my license I was told there was a hold on my name and I had to pay a $70 reinstatement fee (even though I paid the $500 fine back in 2006) so DL was $100 for me. :-[

I agree, my boyfriend's brother just got his license and he didn't have to surrender his state id at all.
