I applied for a CA Driver License and it expires in 5 years. And the CA Identification Card expires in 6 years. I already receieved my card by mail.

The Illinois one is just like a regular one. Mine is valid for 4 years and 7 more months.

Did you apply for both ID and license at the same time? What identification did you show them when applying?

i went to the DMV today and got my temporary driving permit while i wait for the DL to arrive in the mail.. when the lady asked me to verify my information, i noticed that the expiration date was only a year from now. so when i asked her about it. she claimed that the system did no let her do 2 yrs. i felt kinda down but w.e ill just renew it next yr with no problems i guess

this was in florida btw

From what I've understood it depends on state, DMV location, and apparently person processing the application.

No i didn't apply for both Driver License and ID Card, I only applied for my California Driver License. However I know other people who applied for California ID and it expires in 6 years unlike the CA driver license expires in 5 years. When I applied I only showed them my EAD Card, and I wrote my Social Security number on the application. Thats all. I decided to only apply for my driver license because the DL is used as an ID, so I don't see the point of getting the CA ID, unless my DL gets suspended and I will need another form of ID. But that will not happen.
