Any followup Dreamactmass?

Worcester, MA here.
I received my EAD on tuesday, and went to get my SS that very day.
Got my letter that says I applied for one, that it would come in one to two weeks.
I don't know if it's the same everywhere, but my local SS office is filled with lazy people trying to
get free money. It was packed when I went, I would rather avoid another visit, especially if it's in vain.

Curious to know how strict the DMV is in MA. The way I read the requirements they need 3 separate documents. And the foreign passport must come with a valid i94. Which would be hard for DACA people.

Yeah I kind of wondered the same thing about the DMV in MA... I didn't know our passports had to contain a valid i94 ! That's gonna screw me up big time anyway, I just wanted to sort of repost one of my comments from a different thread here to kind of share my experience with you guys from the social security office here in MA...

" Hey guys, I just got home from the social security office and I just wanted to share my experience. The worker who called my number was extremely friendly, almost to a flirtatious point. At first I didn't mind it only because I was preparing myself to deal with a rude person for whatever reason. Anyway, he was chatting with me and chatting with his coworkers and laughing and smiling etc...etc.. Which was awesome cuz I was freaking out at first almost to the verge of passing out hahaha. But yeah... Towards the end I started to get aggravated because he kept on getting distracted talking to his coworkers and I had been standing at that little window for 15 mins already. So then we got to the point of the interview... And once again he calls over a coworker to ask how come they now had to ask people 7 questions instead of just 3 like they were apparently doing lately.... At this point I'm pretty much like, can you ask the questions already!!!!! I didn't say it, but I thought about it. So then he starts asking me the questions..... And they were completely different from what I heard others say here. He asked me things like: had I ever held a part time or full time job in the US? Did I have a checking account or savings account at any US bank? Had I ever filed taxes or anyone filed with me as a dependent ? Had I ever used any US benefits such as Medicaid Medicare food stamps etc? Had I ever taken any national college entry exam ? Had i ever applied to a US university, college or vocational school ? Had I ever left the US and lived in a country for an extended period of time ? Anyway, things of that sort.... Not once did he ask me when had I come to the US or anything like some have said they would! But everything went well and he never said anything about waiting 10 days. He gave me a receipt saying I'd receive my social in the mail in 2 weeks and that was that. I answered truthfully to all questions, so I hope that won't get me in trouble... I'm not sure what's the reason they asked some of those questions but... Hopefully this will be helpful information to others!"

Anyway, OP, Keep us updated !!!

Hey,
That's odd...I was never asked a single question....the guy just said he needed my passport and the employment authorization card it took me at the most 5 min...
I went to the Framingham location, and the place was pretty empty, just 3 more people there.
The guy who helped me was brazilian...wondering if it helped, since he knows how things work for people like us...
Best of luck to you!

Ehmm yeah him being Brazilian was probably the reason why it went a bit more smoothly for you. I received my social today... so 3 days after I applied for it (which was last thursday). I plan on going for my permit written exam on Thursday but I'm kind of freaking out because of the requirements. Like we need 3 different papers to prove:

1. Date of birth
2. MA residence
3. Signature

So... out of all the papers acceptable to prove MA residence, I decided to go with the Bank statement option. I ordered my October statement online from BOA and I will just use that. I also plan on bringing all my DACA related documents with their mailing envelopes and all because I think any government mail can also prove residence. And that's that.

Now for a paper that proves my DOB... I originally planned on bringing my passport until I read that they will only take your passport if it contains a visa and the I-94. In which case, I do not have so that throw my passport out the window for that. Then my one and only other way to prove DOB is by using my birth certificate... Now it says that any foreign birth certificates need to be translated into English, obviously. But the wording really confused me:

Quote:
"Original out-of-country birth certificate certified by the agency that issued it. If not in English, the certificate must be translated."
What does certified by the agency that issued it mean? I didn't quite get that. Also, it doesn't have to be translated by the Consulate itself right? Because I just brought it to this place where they translated it for me and notarized it.

Lastly, to prove my signature... one of the options was a valid social security card so That's that lol.

Anyway, if anybody from MA could share their experience it would be great! I'll keep you guys updated on how my stuff goes. Feel free to PM me as well if you have any specific questions.
