They want proof of legal status. DACA doesn't grant legal status. The approval notice clearly says that Deferred Action does not grant any status.

Being approved for deferred action doesn't grant you legal status, but the EAD that comes with it does (to some extent). An internship is a type of employment. With EAD you are 100% legal to work (except for government-related positions). If the EAD doesn't give you some sort of legal status, you wouldn't be able to get a driver's license out of it.

The majority wouldn't out right call him the n-word (though many have), so they opted for "Marxist, Socialist, Nazi, Kenyan, usurper, radical Muslim, angry-black-man etc..." all under the guise of wanting to "preserve freedom" or "uphold the constitution," or "limit the size of government and reign in spending."

Absolute, flat out racism. From the despicable likes of Mitch McConnell who publicly stated that his party's number one goal was to make Obama a one-term president to the incessant hate spewed by pundits like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and the rest of Fox News, all was mired in the rotten stench of racism.

This is why it blows my mind when I hear some minorities and some Hispanics who choose to side with Republicans. It's like they wish to dig their own grave and subject their future generations to more oppression. The division in parties can be boiled down to this:

Republicans/Conservatives are fundamentally prone to religious dogma and an unwillingness to progress or shall I say yield, to any social advances. Hence, they are the party who hate gays, despise the inevitable "browning" of America, opposed women's rights, and most infamously upheld slavery.

Democrats/Liberals/Progressives on the other hand are willing to accept all members of society and what's more, stand up and fight alongside minorities of all types against racism, bigotry, and intolerance. Proof of this can be found by looking at all the major social movements in our history and at their great leaders.

The choice is clear.
I wish it's a simple matter that most Republicans are racists, but they're not. They have a huge number of racists among their ranks for sure, but they also have religious fundamentalists (anti abortion, anti gay) and libertarians (anti government, anti union). People like Bobby Jindall, Nikki Haley, and Marco Rubio don't belong to the racist group, but they most definitely belong to the other two. There's also Dinesh D'Souza who has written one of the most mainstream anti-Obama book and directed the most anti-Obama movie.

If the Republican party is somehow able to jettison its racist base and truly embrace immigrants, they could potentially benefit from the increase in minorities, who are typically more religious than the average whites. Take a look at what happened in California with Proposition 8.
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lano...african-a.html

This point is not completely lost to all Republicans, as you can see Rick Perry who supports in-state tuition for undocumented kids and Newt Gingrich who refuses to kick out undocumented immigrants with deep family ties. But this time around the racist faction in their party won, so they got anti-immigrant Romney.

Exactly my point, but I don't have enough resources or enthusiasm to sue the university for discriminating against the EAD.

You should talk to the president of the university. Explain to him that the lazy people at the career center are denying you from exercising a right that has been specifically granted to you by the federal government, simply because you don't fit neatly into one of the checkboxes on their precious forms. If he says 'tough luck' then maybe you can think of suing them.

So far, I have emailed the director of the career center. If she says nothing can be done, I will go and talk to the President. You are right. I shouldn't go down without a fight.

When I went to the career center they told me I can't register because they were told so by the Department of Labor. If the president says 'tough luck,' then I will contact the Department of Labor to see if they can contact the University, and tell them of my true rights.

That's the spirit! Many before you have fought hard for DACA, the least you can do is fight the last mile. If you are successful in trailblazing it at your university, you will make it easier for the next guy coming along. Pay it forward, as they say.

Here is something to bring along: a copy of the Code of Federal Regulations authorizing you to accept employment. You're 8 CFR 274a.12 (a) (11)

Now go kick some ass!
