Let me know how it goes (if they accept the SS letter), because I don't wanna wait the extra 2-3 weeks waiting for SS card to arrive.

I'll keep you posted. I'm aiming for Tuesday to do all of that.

I finally went today since sandy had my local office closed Tuesday. I went to the DMV and was allowed to take my permit test. Unfortunately, I couldn't actually get my permit, that is until I have my SS number. The lady said that a print out with my number on it would be enough, so I'm going to try and get one tomorrow... As far as documentation, I used my EAD, passport, and deferred action status letter. The fee for it will be like 24 dollars since she said its only going to be valid for two years, which sucks, but oh well! So good luck to you! And let me know how it goes on your end!

Wait so did you get your Temporary ID yet or do they require the print out for that too? I will be going there as soon as soon as I get my approval. BTW I live in Northeast Philadelphia how about you?

I went to the social security office this afternoon and got the print out. After I headed over to the DMV, showed them the print out and they handed me my permit. As for an ID, I'm sure you'll need the print out or the actual social security card, before you can get one. Make sure you tell them you received deferred action status under C33. This way they'll know what your actual status is. I live in Lancaster county, about and hour and some odd minutes from Philly.

Oh ok I see, so you only applied for a DL and not for an ID. Thanks for all the info and good luck on the driving test.

Really? It's only for 2 years? I thought it was gonna be 5 years as it is with many states.

How was the test for the permit? Did you have to present your doctor's check up or is that necessary once you go for your test for the actual DL?
