Ok we need to talk pootie. How'd u go about doing this? I couldnt go to career fairs while in school obviously. How do you go about getting an internship/job after graduating? I know they do campus recruiting.

Well, I go to a target school (UMass Amherst) so they hold events, career fairs, etc. Why could you not go to career fairs though? I went to all the events and I had no papers at the time. You're only required to give out any info once you actually start working. Deloitte was the only tricky one where they had me fill out a background information application and even though I left the SS part blank, they still offered me an internship.

Just to add to what I said. I accepted an offer from KPMG. I made sure to go to all their events, made sure the recruiter knew my name. The recruiters are the ones who decide whether you're going to make it to the first interview. After that it's a pretty straight forward process.

shoot me an email if you have any questions. its [email protected]

I'm looking at jobs right now, but I'm not applying anywhere yet since I don't have any sort of documentation. Updating my resume so I can start submitting stuff as soon as I have an EAD.

I hear where you're coming from though -- I have absolutely no experience! This is going to be really really hard for me.

Thank you! I did happen to be extraordinarily lucky though. It seems that a social security number is needed to register as an active EMT in the state of California. Along with an active driver's license to get an ambulance driver's permit! So I lucked out pretty good! Not to mention that you need to enter a social security number when you get fingerprinted for the state.

BA and MA in Political Science... There's a slight possibility of being able to pursue a PhD, however, I'm 31 (barely made the cut) and I need to start working despite the fact that I have "no prior work experience" with my degree. I hope many of the younger folks who are having a hard time continuing their education or who are close to giving up can use our posts as inspirations that no matter what the odds are, they too can do it!
