CA DL thread - Page 54

I got my DL today. It expires on the same day as my EAD in 2014

People who got full term drivers licenses, which what cities did you get em at?

The person who was assisting me was a die hard American... with USA flag mouse pad, usa mini flag on her desk and with her usa colored pen.

my id expires in 6 years
and my dl expires in 5 years
some of my friends that only applied for dl only got 2 years
so i'm assuming if you apply for both
you'll get 5/6 years???

Wow so my assumption awhile ago was probably correct. Seemed like those just getting their licenses (without CA ID first or at the same time) were getting 2 year expiration dates. Interesting!

I hope that's a possibility, but I'd wait til more people confirmed having this experience before assuming. But it doesn't hurt to get both, i was planning on it anyways!

Again, it was just MY assumption. It could totally boil down to luck. But just to be safe, I'd get my ID first or at the same time.

Incorrect, never had a CA ID, had WA license with about 4 months left and EAD, I got the full 5 year DL, Southern Cal.

Sounds like it comes down to:

1. Worker glancing at EAD to make sure it was valid only, thus proving legal presence, and going forward

2. Anal employee of the day taking note of everything including the expiration date and following the DMV bible


I would suggest maybe finding one that's busy as shit, contrary to avoiding it, they're always packed here in southern cal and I think that may improve the chance of getting a full term license with them overlooking the expiration.
