Who did NOT wait the 10 day wait period for SSN? - Page 6

I went 6 days after being approved and had no problems...

This 10 day thing seems pretty random just like the approval process. I too got my ead in the mail yesterday and I went to sso today and everything seemed smooth until the lady actually hit submit on her computer. The computer told her that my ead couldn't be verified yet and that She had to resubmit my app 10 business days after my issue date on my ead. Luckily the lady was really nice and told me that she will resubmit my app when the 10 days are up and she will call my cell to let me know when my social sec # is generated so I can go pick up a printout. She was a hispanic lady and she was really nice and she told me that she had processed a few ead's under deffered action lately and that the others had been instantly verified. So I guess the ssa/dhs for some reason put certain of us on 10 day hold while others are instantly verifiable with dhs. Just an FYI. No big deal though at least I now I will get it for sure.

I went to the SSA office yesterday after getting my card in the mail Saturday. I was approved on the 23rd and the first thing the lady told me was that I had to wait 10 days before applying. She explained it was the policy and yada, yada. However, she then told me that she could run my number and see if maybe I showed up in the system. She said there was a possibility that my number wouldn't show up and it would just sit in there computer system. My choice.

Well, I went ahead and risked it and she was able to verify me! I got my receipt right away that said I would get my social within two weeks. I asked if I could get a print out and she said I could go back for it in 24 hours. I haven't gone back for the print out yet but I'll probably go tomorrow.

I think it totally depends on who you get at the SSA office. There's nothing wrong with testing your luck, though.

I got approved on 10/17th went and applied for SSN on the 24th. The guy at the office said nothing about 10 days. He said I would receive my card in the mail within 2 weeks. Received my SSN in the mail on the 30th. Now Im out filling applications.

I didn't wait...went straight to the SSA after I received my card in the mail. The agent did mention a 10 day wait, but said I have been verified through DHS and got my receipt that I would receive it in 2 days.

So in conclusion you can wait 10 days if you want or go right away. There is no clear cut on going in early, some are told to come back 10 days after ead issue date while others are instantly verifiable in the system. You can try your luck if you wish going in early, you might be one of the fortunate ones that are instantly verifiable or you might get the 10 day thing. Think you risk nothing in going in early, 50/50 chance you will be instantly verified and get your card in 7/10 days. If you get the 10 day thing at least you know what specific day you can reapply and then you will get your card 7-10 days later in the mail. So really going in early or waiting is up to each individual. I went in early (yesterday) and got the 10 day thing but at least the ss worker told me what day it will clear and that I can get a printout the very next day with my number on it and my card 7-10 days later. No biggie if you are for some reason predetermined for "10 day" you still have to wait, wether you wait and then apply or wether you apply and then wait, same wait!

I got my SSC in the mail today . I applied on Monday...now waiting for my CA ID and DL

Ok so from reading all the posts...no one actually gets a SSN card on the day even if you wait the 10 days before going in to the office right?

DAM! i have been waiting to get verified by DHS for 4 weeks already!

I havent even been approved yet...
