Are you SURE that you were convicted of a felony? A felony usually means that you were convicted of a crime that has a sentence of at least a year. A few days in detention and then a hearing in which you were told to go to an alternative school seems like an administrative action taken by the school district and not a conviction.

Man, you guys are brutal. He had a knife accidentally (according to him) on him at school. I accidentally brought a pocket knife to school in 5th grade (I was cleaning up the garage or something and put it in my jacket pocket and didn't take it out before going to school). It fell out and I got sent to the principal's office. I could've been expelled and so on, but thankfully the principal took mercy on me and nothing happened.

I rewrote my post after finding his reasoning. I still don't think he should've found himself in that situation. Trust me, I could've been there also, but I had the sense to know that I was not in this country legally so I should keep a very low profile. It's just basic common sense.

I worked as a florist while in high school and I never forgot my pocket knife on me when I went to school. It's all about responsibility.

Look, we tend to do stupid things when we're young, that's why they have juvenile court. Even CIS recognizes that and gives special treatments to juvenile offenders. Let's not be quick to judge. This was just a knife, if it were a gun then it's a different matter.

...I'm starting to think you're a troll.

As others have pointed out, this is most likely not a felony. My guess is, someone told you it was a felony and you were scared silly. From experience, illegals tend to be very gullible when their backs are up against a wall.

I was a freshman in highschool so yes i was very prone to do stupid things. I'm a senior now about to graduate and it sucks that because of my stupidity i may have no chance at success whatsoever.

i really hope for the best for you. those who are giving you a hard time for something you did when you were 14 are not helpful at all. keep his character out of this as you do not know him to judge that. his question was simply if he qualifies. answer his question. stop pouring salt in his wounds, he is already going through a rough time as it is, we ALL are. i cant believe how rude some people are on this forum to think that they are better than others, when we all want the same thing.

OP, please seek professional legal advice. i wish you the best. and yes, this doesn't sound like a felony at all. felonies are punishable to at least 1 year in prison. did you have a lawyer? try to get official records/court documents/arrest paperwork. keep us updated.
