So I received my SSN which was issued at 10/24 at 10/29. Last Friday I went to TCF bank and went to open a student account with them with my new SSN. Today though, I got a letter saying that my SSN needed to be verified.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem? I'm wondering if it's just because my SSN has been recently issued and maybe it's still being updated in the system. I'm worried though because I'm hoping that this won't be a problem when it comes to putting my SSN on work apps because I don't want it to be rejected.

If anyone knows anything, please help

this type of issue has been covered, OUR SSN ARE RANDOM their systems aren't updated to recognize them yet.

GO TO YOUR LOCAL SS OFFICE AND GET A VERIFICATION LETTER.

this is normal, don't be all bumed about it.

So with us having new numbers it won't be in the system?

I just got that exact letter from Bank of America. They said that my ssn is invalid and that I have not been established for a sufficient period at the address I provided... I wonder if I can fix this.

I faced the same situation with Ally Bank. People are quick to point out that we are getting new, randomized numbers but that change was made in June of LAST YEAR.

Seriously, this doesn't make any sense. There have been a lot of people who've become permanent residents since that date, at least a couple of hundred thousand. Do they face the same issue we face? I am no sure. I personally know someone who got a bank account right after getting their SSN as they were awaiting their green card.

Anyone have any insight on this situation?
