Hey Everyone,

I live in Georgia and recently applied for a Learner's Permit, When I applied, the lady asked me to show any previous ID, so I showed her my New Mexico ID I got in 2010 when I was 14. She notified me that it was suspended, and that I needed to get it re-instated or get the issue taken care of. I then called the NM DMV and asked them what happened, and they said that I needed to prove my residence in GA, and asked for 6 Proofs of Residence.

USPS said that the package arrived last week, but they say that they do not have it yet and I have to wait 2-3 weeks before it gets processed.

Now here are my questions:

1. Will they reinstate my ID, or nullify it, allowing me to get a GA Permit? I showed them the proofs of my residence here, and I have all the legal documents such as a Social Security and a Work EAD.

2. Is this a crime? As we legally rented a place, got real residence documents, and presented no fraudulent documents (we did not use documents showing another's identity)?

I never actually lived in New Mexico, as my parents rented the place for about 6 months, and used those documents to get a license and a permit, but many people applied from that area for a license and all of them got cancelled. I was 14 at that time, and really didn't know much about what they were doing. I realized what our situation was soon after. The person who rented us the apartment got in trouble for intentionally renting the houses for people to get licenses (about 25 people from the apartment). I'm scared that I will get into trouble.

3. Now if they decide not to reinstate or nullify my ID, what are my options?

I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks

Yeah, I sent the package 2 weeks ago. They say that they are waiting to process it.... soooo slow. I just hope it happens by the middle of next week. We might be going on a trip and if so, I'm driving!
