Provisional license holders under the age of 18, during the first 5 months (151 days) of the provisional period, are not allowed to have passengers under the age of 18, unless accompanied by a qualified supervising driver or the passengers are direct family members. Direct family members can be a spouse, daughter, son, stepdaughter, stepson, sister, brother, stepsister, or stepbrother of the provisional license holder, or a relative of the license holder who lives at the same address.
Thanks!

By the way, does your license expire on the same year as your EAD, or did you get the 5 year expiration date?

I have a question. I don't know if any Marylanders can help me out with this one. Your state used to give out DL's to undocumented people till not too long ago, can they still be able to renew their DL's without having to present documents that show legal proof? Thanks in advance.

That sucks about the 9 month wait but thanks for the heads up. I suppose I'll put it off until I leave the state. In the meantime I'll try for a regular ID card

These are all good questions, bumping this thread, specially for that expiration date question. Let us know please. I'm wondering about the renewal myself too, I have to renew my license next year.

I was only able to get my ID. I had not studied for the test yet and I was short on cash. ID is $32 while permit is $50. Now my ID expires on Nov 2, 2014.

We would most likely have to show documents to renew our ID. Since our EAD expires in 2014, as we renew that, we can renew our IDs. Now I'm not certain if our licenses are going to be for 2 years only as well.

I plan to get my permit before Nov 2, 2014 so I can get my learner's Permit.

I thought that you can't get both the ID and the permit. Isn't is one or the other?
And did it have any markings on the ID? Something like 'not for federal use'.

She only got the ID. Read that back.

Once you get a permit, I think you have to surrender the ID, but there's no point in having both anyway.

And renewals, I found out, you only have to bring your old license and pay the fee if you got your license before August 1, 2009, but if not, the license WILL show a limited time of validity. Hmm interesting.

Yes. Till 2015, but you will have a restriction on it, which states on the DL card as " Not valid for federal purposes"
What that means is, that you can not get on military bases, enter some federal buildings and get a motorcycle license.

The learners permit is $50. If you happen to fail the first time do you have to pay the $50 again the second time? Does anyone know.
